Expedition Borneo Itinerary and Costs

Day 1. Arrival and preperation phase.

On arriving at the airport in Bandar Seri Begawan you will be met by your instructors. In the evening we will take a quick tour on foot and dine at one of the local restaurants.

Day 2 – 3. Introduction to the jungle.

The following morning we head off to a purpose built camp on the edge of the jungle to get a taste of the smells, noises and feel of the jungle environment. You will be provided with personal equipment for use during the trip and given guidance on its use. Here you will learn some of the basic routines of jungle life including the use of cutting tools, shelter erection and setting up a comfortable hammock. Jungle safety is emphasised in the afternoon with instruction on basic management of a medical casualty, signalling for help, and extraction of a casualty from the jungle. (See Gallery) You will be cooking for yourself (food provided) and experiencing your first overnight stay in your jungle hammock.

The following day, after packing up camp, we will return to the accommodation for our final preperation before heading deep into the jungle the following morning . In the evening we take dinner in a local restuarant.

Day 4 - 10. Jungle expedition

An early start is required for our drive up to the Labi Road and walk into the jungle to establish our camp for the next few days. Over this period you will learn and use basic jungle survival skills including fire lighting, obtaining water, fishing/trapping and river crossing techniques. During this time you will be taught methods of navigating in the jungle and this includes a spell of two nights trekking away from the base camp, deeper into the jungle. Your final night in the jungle is spent back at the base camp, dining together in “jungle” luxury!
