Wilderness Quest

The Bushcraft Expeditions Wilderness Quest course allows you to practice and perfect skills you already have and then to build on them. During the course you will be taught more advanced bushcraft techniques, culminating in an assessment phase where you will have the opportunity to apply all that you have been taught. Participation in the assessment is voluntary and the results confidential should you so choose. There will be various tasks set during the assessment phase with “rewards” given reflecting your achievements. At the end of the course there will be a prize awarded to the best student.

During the course you will cover the following subjects:

  • Advanced fire lighting techniques and fire lays
  • Fungi for food and use in other applications
  • Advanced traps and trapping
  • Large game preparation
  • Field expedient medicine and first aid
  • Indigenous cooking methods
  • Water hazards and their safe negotiation
  • Improvised boats and open water crossing
  • Rope work and knots
  • Field expedient mapping and improvised navigation
